solellaux is six years older, very handsome, and spends exactly one blissful afternoon with ilienne, at which point she thinks that she really could love him for the rest of her life
joke's on her because solellaux lays eyes upon edrienne the very next day and decides that he is in love with her instead

tired of her life as an ishgardian noblewoman without heirs to manage or a husband worth being loyal to, ilienne decides to make use of the one thing she's ever been good at — swordplay — and joins the temple knights as a fresh recruit
it's half to get back at her husband and half because she's hoping she'll just die on the battlefield
at least solellaux and edrienne could get married then
